Zipfy [pronounced zip’fee] originated in a small town in the Bavarian Alps where it was designed as an improvement to sliding down the hill on coal shovels in the 1960’s. It is now a hip and trendy Alpine sport with competitive races for riders of all ages. Zipfy arrived in North America for the first time in 2007 and has become very popular as a sled for beginners from 5 and older or daredevils of any age.

Zipfy is the safest sport on the hill. To control speed, you simply drop your heels to slow your sled’s speed as desired. For immediate stops, you lift your handle and lean back to dig the rear of your sled into the ground. You will protect yourself from obstacles with your legs and feet. You won’t fall because you are very close to the ground. Turning capability allows you to maneuver around obstacles.
